5 Best Parks in Rome for families
Rome Events for Families
If you are planning on going to Rome with your family, then after taking them around the sights and sounds of the city for a day, it is nice to find somewhere to relax, enjoy an ice cream and let the kids play for a while. Rome has a number of parks and gardens, and below are 5 of the best for families to enjoy on a beautiful day.
Luna Park -
Not just a park, but essentially in a funfair in the centre of Rome, Luna Park offers fairground rides, a roller coaster, a Ferris Wheel and even a haunted house. This park has something for kids of all ages and even
kids who grew up a long time ago. The park is open from Monday to Friday from 1500 to 2000, and from 1500 to 0100 on a Saturday and 1500 to 2200 on a Sunday.
Gianicolo -
This park, situated up on Janiculum Hill (one of Rome's seven hills) not only offers beautiful views of the city for couples, but also attractions for the young at heart. Gianicolo offers bumper cars, Punch and Judy shows and pony rides for families as well as other playground facilities.
Villa Ada -
A more traditional city park, Villa Ada allows families to walk and enjoy the sunshine, as well as play on the vast open expanse of grass. The park also includes a number of ponds, bike paths and a roller-skating rink for families to relax by and enjoy.
Villa Borghese -
Less of a park, than a garden estate Villa Borghese has something for families of all ages including art collections, an amphitheatre, a movie theatre and even a small 'bio-zoo'. Due to the size of the park, you can even hire bikes and roller-skates to easily get around it.
Bomarzo - A park that offers something a little different for families to see and enjoy. The park is filled with architectural displays and sculptures of mythical creatures for children to play and hide among. Guaranteed to be responsible for some of the more interesting photos in your holiday collection.
