Why I Love Living in Rome, Italy
Live in Rome as a Foreigner
Every tourist knows that Rome is ancient, historic, romantic and charming, but those are not the only reasons I love living in Rome. Getting settled in Rome was challenging because I had to wade through a sea of paperwork in order to start living in this magnificent city. However, I am glad that I managed to overcome all these hurdles because I really enjoy living here. Getting a job in Rome is
tough, but since I teach English, I found it quite easy to land a job in Rome.
Initially, I felt that Rome was expensive, but that was only because I was spending my money the way the tourists do. I solved the problem by renting an apartment a little away from the heart of the city and started shopping at traditional supermarkets. Getting around in Rome is not at all a problem because the city has an excellent public transportation system.
You can easily survive in Rome even if you do not know Italian as long as you are living in the heart of the city. However, if you are living in the suburbs as I do, you ought to know Italian. If you really intend to enjoy life in Rome, learn Italian and move to the suburbs, where the cost of living is much lower.
The sun in Rome shines warmly, the people are friendly and hospitable, the cuisine is scrumptious and the wine is not only delicious, but also affordable. You might have a tiny bit of difficulty to find a job, but once you get settled with your life and your work, living in Rome is a joy.
